A guided hike is one of the best ways to see all that Costa Rica has to offer.  There are easy hikes along well maintained trails as well as more challenging hikes up into the mountains. They will almost always turn up a species of monkey, birds, sloths, hanging bridges and waterfalls. Hiking is a fun, safe educational outdoor experience. Along the way you may want to stop and relax near the water and cool off. A typical guided hike will last between 2-3 hours. Make sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray, camera and good hiking shoes. Most guides booked thru an agency will be very experienced and have the proper certification required by the Costa Rica Tourism Board.
